Itinerary
Arrival in Shillong - Explore the City - Arrive in Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya, where you will be greeted by our representative at the airport or bus station. After check-in and a brief rest at your hotel, begin your exploration of this charming hill station. Visit Ward’s Lake, a man-made lake surrounded by lush gardens, perfect for a leisurely stroll. Continue your sightseeing with a visit to Elephant Falls, a stunning three-tiered waterfall amidst a picturesque setting. Later, head to Shillong Peak, the highest point in the city, offering panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. In the evening, explore Mall Road, a popular spot for shopping and local cuisine. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Shillong to Cherrapunji - Caves, Waterfalls, and Living Root Bridges - After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Cherrapunji (Sohra), known for its lush landscapes and breathtaking natural wonders. En route, visit the Nohkalikai Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in India, where the water cascades from a height of 1,100 feet. Continue your journey and visit the Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint for mesmerizing views of the hills and valleys. Afterward, head to Sohra and explore the unique Living Root Bridges—an extraordinary natural wonder created by the Khasi tribe using the roots of trees to form intricate bridges. Visit the Laitkynsew and Nongriat Root Bridges, which offer a beautiful and adventurous trek. Check into your accommodation in Cherrapunji for an overnight stay.
Cherrapunji to Mawlynnong - Explore the Cleanest Village - After breakfast, leave Cherrapunji and drive towards Mawlynnong Village, often touted as the cleanest village in Asia. On arrival, take a walk through the village to witness its immaculate cleanliness and scenic beauty. Visit the Living Root Bridge here, another example of the impressive craftsmanship of the local tribes. You can also explore the Sky View Point, a 80-foot-high bamboo tower that offers a panoramic view of the surrounding areas, including Bangladesh across the border. After exploring Mawlynnong, head to the nearby Dawki village, famous for the Umngot River, known for its crystal-clear waters, where you can enjoy a boat ride. Return to Shillong for an overnight stay.
Shillong to Elephant Falls & Departure - After breakfast, check out from your hotel and take a short trip to the famous Elephant Falls again to enjoy the refreshing natural beauty in the morning light, or visit other spots in Shillong that you may have missed. You can explore the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures to learn about the culture and traditions of the indigenous tribes of Meghalaya. Depending on your departure schedule, you can either visit Umiam Lake for a peaceful boat ride or shop for local handicrafts in the local markets before being transferred to the airport or bus station for your onward journey.
